John Wood Takes Down State Fair

The John Wood men's soccer team had a much need bounce back into the win column today with a 1-0 victory over State Fair Community College.

The Blazers came out using pressure and speed to get several shots on goal to start the contest. JT Niermann had a good look at the goal and scored off a corner delivered by Leo siqueira in the first half to get the Blazers on the board.

State Fair CC showed grit and determination and made several pushes to get the ball up the middle into Blazer territory. Blazers goalkeeper David Ferraro was able to keep the Roadrunners at bay and was a big part of the Blazers defense.

After a back and forth second half, John Wood was able to keep the slim lead and walked away with 1-0 victory.

David Ferraro earned the shutout for the Blazers. John Wood Men's soccer is now 2-2 on the season, and will be in action next Saturday at Heartland CC. Game-time is slated to start at 12:00pm.

"We overcame unavailable players, a lineup change and a disappointing loss earlier this week to come together as a unit to find a way to win today said Head Coach Bob Cowman". "We have a lot of things to clean up before we enter the meat of the season."

"We are getting solid play from our back line and keeper David Ferraro. I am encouraged by the work we are putting in".
