Softball Falls To Chargers

John Wood could not keep pace with Carl Sandburg Chargers 5-3 on Friday at John Wood Community College.

Carl Sandburg Chargers opened the scoring in the first after Paige Huffman singled, scoring one run.

Carl Sandburg Chargers extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI doubles by Jaycee Craig and Alexis Brammeier.

Mary Hellige earned the win for Carl Sandburg. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking two. Joceyln Bartels took the loss for John Wood. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out two and walking none.

Elizabeth Tanner and Sydney Phillips each collected two hits for John Wood. Laken Aidich and Phillips each drove in one run for John Wood Blazers 2025. Abigail Harshbarger stole two bases. The Lady Blazers stole three bases in the game.
