John Wood Names New Softball Coach

QUINCY, Ill. – John Wood Community College announced that Kelsey Thompson has been appointed as the new Head Softball coach.

Coach Thompson is from Moweaqua, IL where she played for 4 years as a varsity starter for Central A&M HS. Having a successful high school career, Coach Thompson went on to play at the collegiate level for Heartland Community College. HCC was ranked 3rd in the nation in NJCAA DII softball and had two very successful years in 2011-2013. 

She began her coaching career with QHS Volleyball, where she coached freshman and JV for two years. Her overall record was 60-18. Coach Thompson was also an assistant softball coach at QHS for 1 year. 

"Coach Thompson will bring a new, competitive, and driven mindset to John Wood Softball", said Athletic Director Brad Hoyt. "She is eager, passionate, and dedicated in bringing back John Wood Softball, and we can't wait to see the program grow under her leadership
