John Wood Announces Hoyt Resigns As Head Coach and Athletic Director

John Wood Community College has announced that Brad Hoyt has resigned his position as Head Men's Basketball Coach and Athletic Director. Coach Hoyt has accepted the Head Coaching job at Division 2 Quincy University. A national search for a new Head Men's Basketball Coach and Athletic Director is underway.


"We extend our heartfelt thanks to Brad for his outstanding contributions to JWCC and wish him the best in his future endeavors", said John Wood Commumity College President Bryan Renfro. Coach Hoyt has coached basketball in the Tri-State region for more than twenty-five years.  The majority of those years have been in the role of Head Coach or Associate Head Coach at John Wood Community College.  He also served as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Culver-Stockton College for three years.  
During his tenure at John Wood Community College, Hoyt amassed six Mid West Athletic Conference Championships and qualified for the national tournament four times.  He has been recognized in multiple years as the Mid West Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, District 16 Coach of the Year, Region XXIV Coach of the Year and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year.  

In addition to his coaching experience, Hoyt has worked in a variety of other roles in higher education in teaching and administration at both John Wood Community College and Culver-Stockton College. He also recently served as the in the role of Dean of Student Affairs here at John Wood. Hoyt earned a degree in Business Administration and Political Science from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Coach Hoyt has had many volunteer roles with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), including service as a voting member of the Division II Men's Soccer and Men's Basketball Committees.  He has also been a member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association since 2004 and a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches since 1999.
