Softball Wins Big On The Road

John Wood Softball took on the JV Squad from Culver Stockton ealier today and came away with a 14-9 win. 
 
Kayden Smith drove in four runs on four hits, and doubled in the second inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the fourth inning, scoring two.
 
JW Blazers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Culver Stockton University  committed an error, Laken Aidich grounded out, and Culver Stockton University  dropped a third strike, each scoring one run.
 
JW Blazers added two runs in the second. Smith doubled, making the score 5-0.
 
Joceyln Bartels pitched four innings in relief for JW Blazers. The hurler allowed seven hits and three runs while, striking out one and walking none. Reice McCormick started the game for JW Blazers. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and three runs over three innings, striking out one and walking three. #1 stepped in the circle first for Culver Stockton University . The pitcher gave up 15 hits and 14 runs (eight earned) over 10 innings, striking out two and walking five.
 
JW Blazers accumulated 15 hits in the game. Olivia Ritterbusch, Kylee Jackson, and Jillian Mueller each collected multiple hits for JW Blazers. Jaylen Lubbert led JW Blazers with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. Abigail Harshbarger stole two bases. JW Blazers ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game.
 
Culver Stockton University  piled up 15 hits in the game. #5, #9, and #2 each collected three hits for Culver Stockton University . #5 and #9 each drove in two runs for Culver Stockton University . #4 collected two hits for Culver Stockton University  in four at bats. Culver Stockton University  worked the count all day, tallying four walks. Culver Stockton University  stole four bases in the game.
